Town of Delafield Parks

Deltown ParkDeltown Park:  This is the first park developed by the Town of Delafield and is five and a half (5.5) acres of land just west of the Town Hall.  The land includes a youth hardball/softball baseball field with backstop fencing and groomed infield. (Located 1/2 mile east of Hwy. 83 on Golf Rd.)

 

Elmhurst Park

 

Elmhurst Park: This Park is located on Elmhurst Road near the entrance to the Kettle Park Subdivision.  It offers a jogging path, picnic tables, grills, shelter and playground equipment and is situated on five and a half (5.5) acres of land. (Located on Elmhurst Rd. (Hwy G) just south of I-94)

 

Sports Commons: Built on fifteen (15) acres at the corner of Silvernail Road and Maple Ave, the complex offers a variety of ball fields including two hardball/softball fields, multi-use sports court (used for tennis, volleyball and basketball), sand volleyball court, and a play field used for soccer and T-Ball.  A sizeable skateboard park with 6 ramps is available in the northwest corner of the park.   Picnic sites are available with grills and a picnic shelter.  A playground area with equipment is situated near picnic site.  An 80 spot paved parking lot is provided with paved access to the ball diamond spectator areas, shelter and playground. An additional 30 spot parking lot has been located near the skateboard area.

Waukesha County Parks & Trails

Naga-Waukee ParkNaga-Waukee Park: The 416 acre parcel consists of a regional heavily wooded park, a championship 18-hole golf course, and 2 lake access sites.  The Naga-Waukee Park and Golf Course are located north of I-94, spanning the lands between the shores of Nagawicka Lake and Pewaukee Lake.  The boat launch areas provide access for fishing, sailing, water skiing, canoeing, and power boating.  Along the beach front of Nagawicka Lake, swimming access is available and lifeguards are on duty June thru August.  A beach house with restrooms (available for rent off-season) and concession stand are open during this season.
Naga-Waukee ParkThe park has 5 reserved group sites and 33 family sites available for overnight camping.  Five picnic shelters are available with restrooms, grill, and sand volleyball located throughout the park. The park hosts playground equipment for tots. The park is open for sledding and cross-country skiing in the winter. For more information, contact Waukesha County Park at 262-548-7801.
Naga-Waukee Ice Arena is a year round indoor ice skating arena and located adjacent to Highway 83 just north of I-94.  Open skating is available as well as rental blocks of skating time for group hockey or skating clubs/teams.

Retzer Nature Center:  The center is located on Madison St. which is 1/8 mile south of Highway 18 and County Road DT (a small portion is within the Town boundaries).  Offers a variety of educational programming, Environmental Learning Center, Charles Z. Horwitz Planetarium and a number of walking nature trails.   

Lake Country Trail:  The Town of Delafield was a partner in the development of an 8 mile east-west walking, biking, cross country skiing trail which extends from the Landsberg Center trailhead in the City of Waukesha to Cushing Park in the City of Delafield.  Created out of the former Milwaukee-Watertown Interurban Railway bed, later owned by Wisconsin Electric as a right of way.   The trail development costs were shared by Waukesha County, The Town of Delafield, the City of Delafield, the Town of Pewaukee and the Department of Natural Resources.  The ongoing operation and maintenance of the facility is the responsibility of Waukesha County.   Future plans include extending this trail to the City of Oconomowoc resulting in a 15 mile long trail.


Wisconsin State Parks and Trails

Glacial Drumlin TrailLapham Peak:  More than 1000 acres (1022) of hilly terrain are within the Lapham Peak boundaries.  The Kettle Moraine and Lapham Peak were formed 10,000 years ago when a glacier covered much of Wisconsin.  Located south of I-94 on County Highway “C”, Lapham Peak has a variety of scenic sights and activities.
The 21.2 miles of hiking trails, including a portion of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail have reserve able backpack campsites.  There are 17.2 miles of cross-country ski trails (including 2.5 miles of lighted trails for night skiing).  Lapham Peak also has 5 miles for mountain bike riding, horseback riding, and snowshoeing.   Other amenities include ice skating, picnicking, and an enclosed picnic shelters.  A 45-foot observation tower sits atop the highest point in Waukesha County (1,233 feet above sea level) and is available for climbing and gazing.  Future plans include a family campground, a Youth Hostel, ice skating pond and nature conference center. Glacial Drumlin State Trail:  This 52 mile trail begins in Cottage Grove and ends in Waukesha’s Fox River Sanctuary. This trail built on a railroad right of way offers walking, bicycling, and, rollerblading and snowmobile opportunities between he City of Waukesha and Cottage Grove near the City of Madison.

Ice Age National Scenic Trail: A 1000 mile national and state scenic trail located entirely in Wisconsin.  The purpose of the Trail is to tell the story of the Ice Age and continental glaciations along a scenic footpath.  The trail begins at Monches County Park at the northern border with Waukesha County, runs through the Town of Delafield passing through Lapham Peak State Park, and continues on running the length of the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest.
